Here is some good news on the training front

By Line....Companies Renew Focus on Employee Training, Betting That Strong Managers Will Help Through the Recovery
The article states, "Despite layoffs and recession-starved budgets, many employers are investing in leadership-development programs, homing not to caught short of strong managers when the economy rebounds."
The article discusses companies like Philips Electronics NV, Estee Lauder Cosmetics and Cannon USA which are providing leadership training to "high-potential employees". The article also mentions Canon launched 'Canon Academy' using web tools and instructor lead course in 2008 to expand its leadership development.
The article also quotes Consultant Paul Hellman who says, "he sees companies cutting cost by using more web training than in past years".
So, this all says to me that there is training going on out there.
